HOW EXPENSIVE IS THIS COMPARED TO OTHER GROUP TRIPS?

TN Experiences is competitively priced in comparison to other excursions. Alternate group tours can cost as much as $10,000 and exclude the level of personalized curation that Travel Noire provides. Each excursion has been thoughtfully crafted to ensure a unique once in a lifetime experience that you’ll never forget. In addition, our payment plan allows you to spread the cost of the trip over several months, easing the financial burden.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT TRAVEL NOIRE CAN CURATE MY EXPERIENCE? AREN’T YOU JUST AN INSTAGRAM PAGE?

Travel Noire is a digital publishing platform with a vision to be the world’s most comprehensive end to-end travel resource for unconventional travelers of color, ultimately ushering in a world of travelers more representative of the diversity that lies within it.

We do this by providing compelling tools, resources and experiences to help travelers discover, plan and experience new destinations. We connect members of the African diaspora with the world of travel. We’ve done so with the launch of #TNdistrict and a quarterly travel box delivered straight to doorsteps.

Collectively, our team and the 100+ curators who write for Travel Noire have been to every continent on the planet. We have drawn from the breadth and depth of our experiences to design itineraries that immerse you in the culture of our destinations. We have invested 10 months of planning and experience designing in each destination to ensure your satisfaction. We are confident in the experiences we have crafted and look forward to you engaging with us.

CAN I PURCHASE MORE THAN ONE SPACE?

Because there is such high demand, we want to give everyone the chance to be able to purchase an experience. As a result, you are only able to purchase one experience at a time. If you're interested in booking more than one space, up to a maximum of three people, please email support@travelnoire.com.

HOW CAN I PLAN AHEAD FOR AN EXPERIENCE?

Public Registration happens 4 times a year, in Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall. Our destinations are released 6-12 months ahead of the trip date to give you ample time to make necessary work arrangements.

WHEN ARE NEW EXPERIENCES DATES CONFIRMED?

All dates are tentative until they are officially available for purchase. For example, if a date is listed with the note: available for purchase on March 14, the official dates will be available on March 14th.

DO TRIP SCHEDULES OR ACTIVITIES EVER CHANGE AFTER MY BOOKING?

Yes. While we try to stay as close to the schedule as possible everything on the trip is subject to change due to weather and local factors.

WILL I BE SAFE? 

Your safety is our number one concern. Our destination selection process is rigorous and includes site visits in advance of the trip to ensure safe conditions for our participants.

In addition, Travel Noire has grown to become a front-running brand in travel in a little over 18 months. We keep our ears — and inboxes — open to the wants and needs of our community in order to tailor unique experiences just for them.

WHAT DO I DO IF I WANT TO EXPLORE ON MY OWN? 

Each experience has built-in free time, allowing you to participate in activities of your choosing. We’ve taken time to curate experiences for your enjoyment, but we also understand that travelers may have their own bucket lists. We want to give you the freedom to cross items off as you see fit.

WHAT IF I DON’T FIT IN WITH THE GROUP?

Before each experience, you’ll be introduced to your group via our designated social platform, which will help ease the shock of meeting a group of new people on the first day of your trip. We’ve also designed several conversation starters to introduce participants to one another. We want to create a comfortable environment whereby people can connect with one another before exploring a new land together.

The truth is, we have an uncanny ability to attract positive and generous people from all around the world. Our guests always share with us that they aren't group tour type of people, but that they are surprised at how well Travel Noire makes it transformative and easy.  

I HAVEN’T HAD LUCK WITH GROUP TRIPS IN THE PAST. WHY SHOULD I GIVE THIS GROUP EXPERIENCE A SHOT?

TN Experiences is unlike any other group experience because a trip is designed as an immersive experience as opposed to a tour. Each trip is rooted in one locale. By doing this, our experience will completely immerse you in a new land and culture, giving you the opportunity to truly absorb your surroundings. Instead of traveling to different parts of a region, we root ourselves in one hotel and in one city to deepen our experience with the culture. We do this to avoid receiving fragmented pieces of local culture.

This is group travel for people who don’t normally go on group trips. We want you to travel like a local, so we keep our numbers low. We know that small group travel is a great balance of fun and simplicity, and it’s better than traveling alone. 

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ANYONE TO GO WITH?

TN Experiences will give you the opportunity to explore a new land with other likeminded individuals who are passionate about travel. After your trip, you’ll have a list of new people you can reach out to when the urge to explore presents itself again.

WHO SHOULD COME ON A TN EXPERIENCE? 

TN Experiences are crafted with our diverse audience in mind. However, there are few characteristics that we think all participants should have:

Intellectual curiosity – We will be exploring a new land, and we want all of our participants to immerse themselves and try to learn as much as possible.

A sense of adventure – Travel Noire aims to push you out of your comfort zone; the ideal participant will embrace this challenge with open arms.

Personable – Our group experiences will put you in touch with new people; we hope that you will connect with each other and potentially form friendships.

DO I BOOK MY OWN FLIGHT?

You are responsible for booking your own flight to your TN Experience destination. We also offer a travel consultancy service that takes the hassle of booking a flight off your hands. Simply provide us with your departure/return city and flight preferences, and our in-house travel consultant will take it from there.

Although our trip prices do not include international flights to and from the start/end cities, it does include transportation while on your experience, accommodations, most meals, a dedicated Experience Designer, all activities listed on the itinerary, an accompanying photographer and tons of inclusions. Airfare isn’t included for a few reasons:

Choice: We want you to have the ultimate choice when booking your airfare. Whether you want to scour the internet to compare the lowest fare, book first-class airfare on your own, or want the convenience of our help, the choice is yours with TN Experiences.

Flexibility: Looking to arrive to your travel destination a couple days (or months) before your trip begins, or want to stay longer after it ends?

By not including international flights with rigid departure dates in your trip price, you have the flexibility to do it your way. We’ll inform you of the start and end times of your trip, making it easy to book flights on your own or with us.

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?

Please note that for all new purchases made after October 6, 2016 are non-refundable. Please try to make sure that you can attend the Experience before booking it.

Not all is lost, however! We strongly encourage you to purchase comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance (CFAR) within 10 days of your purchase, so that you'll be able to recover your investment from your insurance provider, should you need to cancel. This website provides a variety of comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance options. Many CFAR insurance plans include medical insurance.

COMPREHENSIVE CANCEL FOR ANY REASON INSURANCE MAY ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND CANADA. CITIZENS OF OTHER COUNTRIES MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER THE COSTS OF THEIR EXPERIENCE IF THEY HAVE TO CANCEL AFTER PURCHASING.

WHAT ARE FOREVER DEPOSITS?

Forever Deposits offer any of our passengers forced to delay a departure to retain their initial deposit for use at a later date at no extra charge—and with no questions asked. The Forever Deposit policy allows you to save your initial deposit (one per person, per confirmed tour) for use on a different experience during the same calendar year. We understand that your travel preferences can change over time, so your Forever Deposit can be used on any future experience and is not limited to the destination on your original booking. Use your Forever Deposit to select the dream trip that suits your interests when you plan your next adventure!

ARE FOREVER DEPOSITS REFUNDABLE?

Applicable for all new purchases made before October 6, 2016.

Travel Noire has to prepay vendors for the experience; therefore, we cannot offer refunds after participants make deposits. However, your travel insurance should cover a myriad of situations in which you may need to cancel your trip.

DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE?

Applicable for all new purchases made before October 6, 2016.

While our mission is to help you discover your next journey, we understand that life happens. If you cancel your experience 90 (ninety) or more days prior to your departure, you’ll be refunded all payments made after your initial deposit. Your deposit (also known as a Forever Deposit) can be transferred to any other experience within the same calendar year.

DO YOU OFFER TRANSFERS?

Applicable for all new purchases made on or after October 6, 2016.

You’re in the right place! We offer one-time transfers for those who transfer at least 120 days before their original departure date, and pay a $199 transfer fee. You will be able to use your one-time transfer within one year from the date of your original Experience purchase. Clients will be responsible for the price differential if purchasing a more expensive product. There are no refunds if transferring to a less expensive product.

IS THERE AN APPLICATION PROCESS?

No, there is no application before purchasing a TN Experience.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Accommodations for 7 days / 6 nights, all activities listed on the itinerary, most meals (see itinerary for exclusions), transportation in-country, guide and a private photographer are included. Additionally, the Cuba Experience includes accommodations for 8 days / 7 nights and a local Spanish-speaking guide in addition to the Travel Noire staff and private photographer.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?

Alcoholic beverages, incidental room charges in hotels, travel insurance, international flights and individual activities on your free days are not included.

WHAT INSURANCE IS REQUIRED?

Travel medical insurance is required. For travel medical insurance, our minimum insurance policy coverage for medical emergency evacution and repatriation is USD $200,000 (or equivalent in other currencies). We will verify that all travelers have such insurance in place and coverage as per the requirements listed above.

We recommend the Insuremytrip marketplace where you will find a variety travel insurance options. You have the choice to use any travel insurance provider you'd like, as long as you send us proof of insurance at least one month before the scheduled departure. Failure to provide accurate proof of insurance prior to attending our trips will result in cancellation.

Please note many comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance plans include medical insurance.

WHAT INSURANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED?

Applicable for all new purchases made on or after October 6, 2016.

Due to the involved logistics, we do not offer refunds - therefore we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance. By having comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance, you won't need to worry about emergencies that can happen before or during your experience. Insuremytrip is a website we recommend that offers a variety of comprehensive cancel for any reason insurance plans that will allow you to cancel your trip and obtain a refund from the insurance provider.

WILL I HAVE A ROOMMATE?

Yes. TN Experiences is designed to foster community.

WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO SHARE A ROOM WITH A STRANGER?

While we encourage room sharing to foster a sense of community, we understand that some people aren’t comfortable with a roommate arrangement. For an additional fee, we can provide you with a room for yourself.

DO YOU HAVE AN ALL-INCLUSIVE OPTION?

Yes. In addition to the core experience, we provide an additional suite of services to take the burden off your shoulders. Please see below for additional services we offer:

CAN I INVITE A FRIEND?

Yes! However, due to the limited amount of space, we recommend that groups book at the same time. We have a maximum of three individuals per party. If one party books separately, we cannot ensure that there will be remaining spaces for people attempting to sign up later.

WHO WILL BE MY POINT OF CONTACT AFTER BOOKING?

We have a dedicated customer service specialist who will assist you with all of your needs. Please contact us as at support@travelnoire.com. We will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours. In addition to that, you’ll receive frequent email communication and other opportunities to connect with your experience cohort in the months leading up to your trip.

DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL WITH TN EXPERIENCES?

It depends. Currently, our Bahia, Cuba and Zanzibar Experiences requires a visa for U.S Citizens. For potential customers who aren’t U.S. Citizens, please use this free tool to determine your Visa requirements (https://www.visahq.com/citizens/). Should you need a visa, feel free to use our visa service. We recommend you look into this as soon as possible to avoid last minute visa request fees.

HOW DOES THE PAYMENT PLAN OPTION WORK?

When you purchase an Experience using a payment plan, a one-time deposit is due at purchase. Once a month, on the same numerical date of purchase, the remaining payments will automatically be charged on the card that you used to book your Experience. For example, if the initial purchase was made on 1/26, the following payments would be debited from your designated account on 2/26, 3/26, 4/26, etc. A service fee of 6% - 12% is applied to all payment plans.

WHAT ARE THE AVERAGE AGES OF TRAVELERS THAT PURCHASE TN EXPERIENCES?

The average age range of our travelers is 25-35. And we frequently have travelers younger and older than the average range!

CAN TN EXPERIENCES BE PLANNED FOR MY LARGE GROUP OF FRIENDS?

At this time it isn’t possible to “buy out” an experience or invite a large group of friends. The beauty of our Experiences is that people who don’t know each other, come together to build beautiful, transformative friendships.

WHY ARE THE PRICES DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST LAUNCH? WHY ARE THEY INCREASING?

Prices of our experiences are variable and seasonal, so they do change according to time of year, currency fluctuations and vendor pricing. Our Cuba Limited Edition Experience was priced for pre-sales and included roundtrip flight as a pre-sale bonus.
